BANGKOK(NNT) - The third day of registration for the ’’taste, shop, spend’’ campaign, which opened at 06.00 a.m., reached the 500,000 subscribers by 7.54 a.m. this morning.

Phase 2 of the campaign opened for a total of three million eligible applicants, aged 18 years or older, to register for 1,000 baht per head Government benefit. The money can be spent in any province except for the province specified on the recipient’s ID card. The money can be used for lodging, travel, food and other items at over 177,000 restaurants and stores registered with the campaign.

The G-Wallet 2 system also provides a 15% refund for additional purchases or services which do not exceed 30,000 baht for each recipient, a maximum refund of 4,500 baht. Any purchases amounting to more than 30,000 baht, but not over than 50,000 baht, will attract a 20%, or maximum 4,000 baht refund.

Those who may have not yet registered for Phase II of the campaign can do so at 06.00 p.m. today, when another 500,000 people will have the opportunity.

Krung Thai Bank is closely monitoring the registration system, which experienced an attempted denial of service attack by hackers earlier this week. The bank has coordinated with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to find measures to prevent such problems.

These schemes are similar to using shotguns to achieve propulsion, in terms of effectiveness..

It's another economic enema to try and get things moving along. The positive effects of a stimulus are quickly obvious but fade just as fast. Later on inflation happens due to the increase of currency in circulation. A quick fix is another round of stimulus...

Authorities never seem to understand that a healthy economic system will correct itself but maybe not before people start to blame the government.
