Chuan apparently rebukes Seripisut for overstepping authority by inviting PM for questioning

House Speaker Chuan Leekpai has apparently rebuked House anti-corruption committee chairman Seripisut Temiyavet for overstepping his authority when he invited Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan for questioning about the legitimacy of the government, in the light of the Prime Minister’s incomplete recital of an oath at the swearing-in ceremony.

Mr. Chuan said that he had been urging those invited by any of the House committees to cooperate adding, however, that the committee chairs who extend the invitations must treat their guests with respect and honour “because they are not answerable to the committees and they should not be invited just to be intimidated, but to provide facts and views to the committees.”

The House speaker also said that committees which extend such invitations must not overstep their authority.

Unbelievable that he can get away without reciting the oath.

In a normal society, he would be asked to recite it in full, and the government could, hopefully, move forward. Instead, anyone who questions it, is seen as the bad guy !

Chuan probably said... How dare he question the poor man, anybody can make mistakes.

It was just a simple error, poor man is over burdened with trying to solve all of the countries problems.:cheesy:

Plenty of info about reasons as to why he didn't recite the required oath but it is impossible to discuss here.

The oath is a nonsense anyway its there to make it  look  like someone else who cant be named is powerful when in fact they arent, the military totally and  ALWAYS have run the Thai show, the rest is 100% fabrication and myth invented to  keep the populace believing something else since the 1930's the whole things a  sham that theyve tried and pretty  much succeeded to make "fact"

There is really little more that can be said now about Thai politics.

It is beyond a farce.

It is so many other things - none of which I can say here. And that itself is a huge part of the problem, maybe the very root of it all.

I know what you mean, Chazar, and largely agree with you (as regards past decades).

But I do think there has been a sea-change now. Cannot say more.

You really should catch up on latest developments of what's happening in Thailand over the past couple of years...

That's where it's heading..

But this ain't normal society. This is "Thai style democracy".

Seripisut should know the PM is a very sensitive and delicate man who could be offended by any questioning. He should also know that he could explode into a rage and threaten to punch someone in the face.

I suggest a peaceful compromise; he could invite the PM's cardboard replica in for questioning.

Maybe.......................................... or perhaps along the lines of: you ain't get away with bullying, lying, demanding this that and the other all because your paymaster directs it anymore!

It does seem neither side can be bothered with the detail, specifically getting the detail right! All because they think they're all above that!

He didn’t recite the oath properly. That’s a fact. What part of that fact has any confusing details?

They are, they “leased” a country...

I have not kept up on that Oaf reciting the Oath.

What was the end result? Just forget about it, or did he re-recite?
