deadman Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 hi i have a work permit and am currently visiting family, can anyone tell me the procedure for returning, apparently there is some kind of fee, as i originally could only get a single entry 'B' when i got my visa last year any help appreciated dm
solent01 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) The fee should only be to renew the permit, it costs me 800 odd baht every three months, when you left Thailand did you get a re-entry from immagration?, if not depending on your relasionship with them you may have to start again (I made this mistake, and many others, but we have a good standing, for what ever reason they seem to let me off). Maybe they feel sorry for the village idiot....... Edited March 30, 2007 by solent01
grtaylor Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 If you got a one-year work permit, then you should have got a one-year visa. Before you left the country you should have applied for a re-entry permit. As far as I know, if you didn't get a re-entry permit, your WP and one-year visa are voided and you will have to start the whole process again. G
solent01 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 G your visa is not made void, just the WP, but with my experience in Chiang Mai, they are good people, and will give you the benefit of the doubt, just tell you off, then send you away smiling.
astral Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 You can apply for a re-entry permit on any kind of visa. The cost is 1000 for single 3900 for multiple. In your case you simply enter the country, quoting the number of the re-entry permit as the "visa number" on the immigration form. You will be stamped in for whatever time remains on your current visa/permission to stay. Provided you return whilst your Work Permit is still valid, that will not be affected.
Crossy Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) If our OP has an extension of stay (he only got a single entry 'B') then without a re-entry permit the whole lot is voided A single entry stay is also voided when you leave without a re-entry permit. Looks like it's time to get the paperwork out again! EDIT I'm reading this as the OP is ALREADY outside Thailand without a re-entry permit, he's buggered I suspect Edited March 30, 2007 by Crossy
