Sadao / Danok border bounce same day.... METV

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm planning on heading to Danok with bt20,000 and a METV to cross into Malaysia and back to Thailand the same day.

My passport is empty apart from my first arrival stamp and visa.

Decent plan or is there a good chance they'll tell me to sleep on the Malaysian side for a night?  I assume the border still closes at 11pm and the 24hr operation doesn't apply to regular folk.

Thank you....

It has previously been reported that Sadao will enforce an overnight stay if doing a border bounce for a visa exempt entry, but you can return the same day if you have a multiple entry visa. Make sure you have 20,000 baht cash equivalent on you. They may ask to see that. Otherwise, based on experience over the last year or so, you should be fine.

No problem but you'll only be able to do it on the road side immigration. I do it at Padang Besar.

In 2014, I was refused a same day re-entry at Sadao - I was using a visa exempt 30 day entry. However, a guy also hoping to do likewise was similarly refused and he had a Non-O visa. I have no experience of attempting a same day re-entry with a visa.

ME visa no problem - no need for 20k

Pick your days and times - The crossing is the main entry for Malaysians arriving for the weekend.
