Joinaman
Ho there just looking on the UK Gov site for applying for visa for my Thai lady It says that all papers must be translated into English. Her ID card, house book, birth certificate, etc, are all in Thai script. Is this acceptable, or do we have to get official translations for these documents ? Thanks for any help, much appreciated
FracturedRabbit
If the document is needed in support of the visa, then it must be in English, (although the ID card has sufficient English on it to suffice).

FracturedRabbit
The good news is that, once done, you can use it multiple times!
jimn
Its just a visit visa. My wife has only ever provided copies of birth certificates and copies of parents ones. Never had to have translated into English. She has done 3 one year visa and currently on a 5 year. Thai id card and house book are irrelevant
rasg
They will take a copy of her Thai ID card and get a signature on the copy. They did with my wife. We supplied translations of a name change certificate and my wife's divorce papers. That was all. The criteria is this. If you rely on any document to get a visa to the UK it's wise to get it translated. Birth certificate not needed for an adult. ID card is in English too.
