What happened on Highway 32 yesterday ?

Just curious to know what happened on Highway 32 ( from Bang Pa-in to Chainat ) yesterday.

Returned from visiting the outlaws near Nakhon Sawan and shortly after joining Hway 32 ( somewhere above Singburi ) around 6 pm started to notice cones were placed in the middle lane about every 50 metres.

Chaos ensued as the police started to gather the cones and it was getting dark, several cones went flying and were crushed, the usual zig zaggers were out in force as traffic was heavy but the appearance of a cone in the middle of the highway added another level of danger.

There were stretches where the police had cleared the cones and traffic sped up only to suddenly hit some more, saw more than the usual amount of near misses !!

I came off at Ayutthaya so don’t know how far it went on for.

 

Didn’t look like the usual road closure for VIP’s as never seen cones in the road, too long for a marathon, could have been a bike ride/race or possibly an extra large vehicle ??

 

It certainly added another dimension to the lottery that is traveling on this highway !!
