A Russian biker died after his head supposedly hit a tree in a motorcycle accident today (January 28) on Jomtien Sai 2 Road in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.

Pattaya City Police Station sub-inspector Pol Lt-Colonel Saichai Khamjulla said that after he was informed about the motorcycle accident, he and a Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rescue team went to inspect the scene immediately.

“At the scene, we found the body of Striyak Rinat Yuryevich, 35. A black Suzuki Skydrive motorcycle lay on the road about 50 metres from his body. We covered the body with white cloth,” he said.

“During an investigation, we found skid marks on the road, while on the traffic island we found part of a nearby betel tree trunk, which had bloodstains.”

Saichai added that police are checking CCTV cameras to find the exact cause of death because no one witnessed the accident.

He instructed the rescue team to keep the body at Bang Lamung Hospital for relatives to perform a religious ceremony.

Why do they say biker when riding a scooter?

Checking cctv one thinks maybe the poor guy was clipped by another vehicle. Not to easy to crash a bike on a straight road.

Poor guy, what a holiday for him and now his family.

Because it's a bicycle with an engine attached, just like all two wheel cycles with an engine; even Harleys.

I thought these cameras only worked selectively and only in cases benefitting the Kwaistone cops.

Yep, it's a dangerous road.

I don't understand why so many deaths occur.

IMO, it's the first bit of "open" road they've seen for a while, so they wind the throttle open.  After a few hours in Pattaya traffic, it's understandable, wrong and dangerous, but understandable.

It's on a straight in broad daylight?

That road has some nasty potholes and  undulations ( MX whoops) they did resurface recently but I don't know if they got all the problems ..could have been a stray dog or  drunk pedestrian run out in front of the driver even another vehicle hit and run.

I sure have noticed a large number of foreigners driving scooters badly the last few weeks. Driving too slow so they may be struck from behind. Changing lanes without checking for overtaking vehicles. There may be no one driving beside them so they think it's safe to change when it isn't. Etc...

The bottom line is if you don't know how to ride defensively this isn't the place to learn. A mistake can be deadly or very painful and expensive.
