I understand that others have applied for a non-immigration O(90 Days) visa after arriving on a 30 days visa exempt previously. The intent is to extend it to a one year retirement visa.  I read on one of the visa website that this is no longer possible. One has to apply for a Non-Immigration O(90 days) overseas before arriving in Thailand if one wish to extend it to a one year retirement visa subsequently. The SIAM legal website however say it's still possible to apply for a Non O 90 days in Bangkok after arriving on a 30 days visa exempt. I'm totally confused. Can anyone help clarify if the rules have been changed, please.

If it ever became not possible to obtain non o inside los by "conversion" then go somewhere like Saigon and obtain non o there.

Actually that option would be my choice as I deal with the busy CW.

It can certainly be done at any immigration office.
