Thai Foreign Minister explains why Government cannot rush Wuhan evacuation

 

 

In an effort to answer those who have accused the Thai government of being slow to evacuate its citizens from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the origin of the growing coronavirus outbreak, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said Sunday that it is not a competition to see which country will be the first to evacuate their citizens. Instead, it is a matter of ensuring that Thai citizens there are safe and free from the virus when they return to Thailand.

 

Starting with the lockdown of Wuhan on January 26th, Don said the Chinese government has been seeking cooperation from friendly countries in applying restrictions to control the spread of the virus, to which Thailand responded positively, prompting Chinese authorities to promiseto take good care of Thai people stuck in Wuhan. 

 

While monitoring the situation in China, Don said the Thai government chartered a commercial flight for the evacuation and created a WeChat network between those stuck in Wuhan, the Thai embassy in Beijing and Thai medical staff.

Is he saying that when they do return to Thailand they will be able to go home and mix with the public immediately?

 

Other countries are evacuating their citizens and isolating them in their home country.

I would have thought this would be better, as then their own health services can be certain they don't have the virus before being released.

 

Just another minion in a suit that makes him look believable.LOL.

Can't really fault Thailand for the delay in this complex situation. I see my home country of Canada is also vacillating on when the charter flight will take off to evacuate their citizens.

There is so much at play that we don't know about.

They are not welcomed back to Thailand unless they are well ?   This guy is a walking talking disaster wearing a nice suit.

Exactly how is he going to do this when the checks they are able to do only show they have not yet showing signs of having been infected, they still need to be isolated.

don't rush; as there will be many Chines, pretending to be Thais-who-look-like-chinese infiltrating the group as a last means of escape

Well he wouldn't want his nice suit infected with a nasty virus, the colour might fade.

Of course don't rush... 14 day quarantine awaits all. Should await all...

Unfortunately…all of the Minister's “Doctor No” outfits are at the cleaners. Otherwise he would make an even more convincing walking, talking disaster.

What he really means is we cannot rush it while they still have baht left in their pockets to spend.  Please be patient everyone while our friends from Wuhan unload their spare Baht in bars, at massages, at dinners, in crowded shops.

Because it would look bad for China and they own Thailand. The remarks from the eastern neighbour in the same jam were very revealing.

I wonder what the numbers of infected in Thailand will be, once they track down the missing Grab-driver holding the test-results?

This bloke is so full of Pinocchio's B.S. The Americans and the Australian govts have already got their first plane loads home and in evacuation centres already and their a lot further away than Thailand. This is just another excuse from a P##s poor government that has lost it's way

Of course there's no rush.  Thais never rush anything except building work & anything demanding care.  First job is to set up several committees and allocate places at the free dinner table.

Remember that time he fibbed about the US telling him they were planning a strike to kill Soleimani, the Irani General?

Well, the Europeans flew an Airbus 380 into China, brought any Europeans back to a military base in France, where they either can stay in a quarantine for two weeks or getting taken care of their own government. 

I, for one, would never want to stay in an invected place which is locked down; try to imagine what kind of ordeal shopping for groceries etc. must be. The Chinese are also not noted for their excellent way of taking care of (their own) people - everything else is left to the imagination. Go figure ............ 

Soon to be followed by a mealy-mouthed press statement on how thry rushed it. As soon as China said it was alright.

 

This joker still doesn't realise that people with a brain laugh at him.
