A post that is going viral on Twitter featured pictures of a man by a klong who takes off his saffron robes, gathers a lot of donations and walks off carrying a large bag.

The Thai public were in no doubt that this was a fake monk getting a free lunch after going on a bogus alms round.

The man was shamed on @golferic1, who mentioned "costume change".

Netizens want the Thai authorities to act in the case, reported Daily News.

Former Wat Sa Ket abbot guilty of embezzlement

A former Wat Sa Ket (the Golden Mount) abbot was yesterday sentenced to a 36 month jail term, suspended for two years, and fined 27,000 baht for embezzling temple funds to the tune of 69.7 million baht.

Why you have to be so harsh against my father?
