Crew on same flight as infected passenger told to take 14 days off

Thai AirAsia X  has ordered the cabin crew arriving back in Thailand on the same flight (XJ621, Sapporo - Bangkok) as an elderly man, who was later tested for Covid-19 infection, to take 14 days off and notify the Department of Disease Control for surveillance and health eximination.

 

 The  passenger returned  to Thailand on February 20. He then went to see a doctor at B.Care Medical Center and was found to be infected with Covid-19.

 

In regard  to the case,  Thai AirAsia X said it had strictly adhered to instructions and standards of the  World Health Organisation, including informing and coordinating  with the  Department of Disease Control and related agencies.

 

Other  passengers on the same flight have also been  notified , it said. 

 

Furthermore,  interiors of the airline has been  sprayed and sterilized intensively.

AirAsia? Probably nothing?

 

One assumes that the "authorities" (MoPH, and not just FD) has contacted the passengers on this flight, informed them of the situation and advised the same procedures as the crew...to take 14 days off and notify the Department of Disease Control for surveillance and health eximination.

 

Hopefully any crew are already at their home base, and will not be flying further during their quarantine?

Unless the infected person sneezed on you, shook your hand, or spit in your coffee you will be fine.  Using hand sanitizer is best preventative measure after touching surfaces, handrails, fingerprint scanners, etc...

Same preventative measure every year to safely avoid contracting influenza. 

Fear mongering is unnecessary.  (Outside of China) Infected numbers very low, survival rates high, mostly elderly and people already ill are the ones dying.  Death rate 1.4% outside China.

True, but the profile of those who died is 97.8% of TVF members.

This is the general problem about this virus, people simply don't understand that this one is different.  Remember SARS?  Well, look at this chart.  Infection rate.  Makes SARS look like a turtle compared to a ferrari.  This thing makes it look like we all will be infected fairly soon.

I have no problem with that whatsoever.

 

Because it is indeed "different", ie the death rate, outside of China, has been quoted on these pages as 1.4%.

 

SARS was over 9%, most cases in China/Hong Kong.

 

I am happy to gamble that I will not be one of the 1.4 people in every infected 100 that dies from it.

 

Really, what will you people do when its all over and you have to come down from your hysterical, panic stricken, media pumped, adrenalin high?

We can always hope and pray that you are correct, the point I was trying to make was the rate of infection, and it's progress thus far to many parts worldwide so quickly, tends to lend credence to the actual word "pandemic", and as a scientist at John Hopkins predicted recently, an actual pandemic with this type of transmission rate, has the potential to kill about 65 million people worldwide, even at this low death rate.  I also hope that both you, and I, are the 1 out of 10 people.

Which will certainly be useless because the incubation can last up to 23 days without any symptoms appearing
