Krataiboy
Much as my wife and I love our grown-up children and grandchildren, we have asked them to keep their distance until the virus scare is over. And with good reason. Thousands of untested Thai youngsters are likely to have picked up the virus but don't know it because they are asymptomatic. One of these innocent carriers in a room full of old folk has the lethal potential as a suicide bomber. With the over-65's accounting for 80 percent of COVID 19 deaths, the health authorities must do more to alert both generations to the risks. donnacha
We got everything upside down. We should have focused entirely on protecting the most vulnerable. Governments everywhere should have commandeered hotels and empty apartment blocks to provide secure accommodation for vulnerable individuals/couples. Safe food deliveries and zero access to families or friends. Free iPads to those who need them, contact via Facetime or Skype or similar only. Big TVs, running machines, exercise bikes to those who want them. Then, the rest of society should have continued as normal, but with a focus on producing ventilators and training new medical staff. Some would turn out to be unlucky, as Boris Johnson has, but the vast majority would have nothing more than a rough week. Hopefully, after one year, enough people would have immunity to prevent later waves gaining momentum, and the vulnerable would no longer have to remain in lockdown. Its highly unlikely a lesson will be learned from this. Cannot be as according to the original post from the Thai doctor it was 6 days after she got back that symptoms started to appear.
