Apply for work permit with 1 year multiple entry non-B visa?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,
I know the usual process is to apply abroad for a 3-month single-entry non-b visa, then enter Thailand and apply for a work permit.
Now my question: I have a 1 year multiple entry non-B visa (for conducting business). Would it be possible to apply for a work permit using this visa ? Or does it necessarily have to be the 3-month, single-entry version?

I heard the office processing new work permit applications is still closed and not accepting any new applications for now. Is that true?

False as far as I know. I have seen no reports supporting that.

Can I ask a follow-up question, please:
I was told that being on visa amnesty (entry stamp expired since early June) I can not apply for a work permit, so I need to leave the country, enter again to get a fresh 90-day entry stamp and then apply at the Bangkok Employment Office. Is that correct?

If you do not have a valid permit to stay the Department of Employment can deny accepting your application.

They should though accept it though if you are on a "automatic extension" since your original entry was from a non-b visa.

I thought so too, but my agent informed me that the Bangkok Employment Office, Area 3 told them the automatic visa extension does not work for a WP.1 application. If anyone had a different experience I would be interested in hearing about it.
