Army on alert for inciters: ‘Ill-intentioned groups still out to split nation’

Featured Replies

Royal Cambodian Army Commander Lieutenant General Hun Manet has called on the army to be on guard at all times because “ill-intentioned groups” continue to incite in an effort to split the nation. His statement was made during a ceremony to transfer officers of the Border Protection Unit 502 of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces’ Military Region 5 in Battambang province on Tuesday.

“Please take care to strengthen the spirit of patriotism.” Lt Gen Manet said in the minutes of his speech obtained from RCA yesterday. “The Armed Forces is a shield for peacekeeping. Every soldier must be strong and clear about the principle of maintaining the hard-earned peace and not succumb to any incitement that can sow division,” he added.

Lt Gen Manet, who is also RCAF  Deputy Commander-in-Chief, called on soldiers to be loyal to the nation as well the elected government. “The armed forces can also be the sword to destroy the peace if we are negligent, lose control, become disloyal or lose trust in the government,” he said. “The ill-intentioned [groups] are continuing to incite in order to split the nation all the time, so we must maintain our leadership.”

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

theres another way to maintain the peace when people have differing views and its called democracy. but its not very good for maintaining dictatorships which I guess is the future dictators main concern. no doubt they will do what thailand did which is have a military takeover at the time of HEs death to repress any opposition to his son

That old unseen enemy that has no name but gets trotted out in most non democratic countries, usually by the generals but not exclusively.
