Libraries In Thailand

Featured Replies

This may be a silly question... But are there any libraries with a good selection of English language books in Thailand? I've been here for nearly three years and have yet to see a library outside of a university.

Do they exist? Are they open to the public?

I read a lot of books and it makes much more sense to use a library than to buy them.

Thanks.

Don't think I've ever seen a dedicated library in Thailand....? :o

There are a few used-bookshops around though, especially in Bkk. Good luck finding something.

chulalongkorn library

also the national library

or any bookstore like kinokuniya

Neilson-Hayes library website

AUA library -- Lots of American History and politics, but also good US lit and science, decent Thailand section

Brit Council Siam Sq. used to have a library, good for Brit literature and history, don't know if they still have it

AUA is something like 500 baht a year. Neilson hayes more expensive but their selection is very good, and they get new titles every month.

Thanks, that's good information. Do you know where the AUA library is? There are a few AUA branches.

The British Council and the Siam Society both have English Language libraries.
