CAMBODIA said it was not a satellite country to China despite receiving much assistance from it. Prime Minister Hun Sn said this after concerns were raised that a naval base in country has been handed over to the Chinese military for its exclusive use.

 

It also comes after a United States-funded facility in the Ream Naval Base was demolished last month. Hun Sen said he has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send a diplomatic note to all foreign embassies to explain the reasons behind the demolition.

 

According to a Khmer Times report, he also expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for helping to build roads, bridges and other infrastructure in Cambodia.

Once again China is aggressively occupying areas in SE Asia. Its like a strategic game of long term chess for this country. How much do they pay to the families of govt rulers in Cambodia?? So much corruption. 

And this is where the CCP are dangerous....debt traps. So many going on in Africa especially.

No, they're not. There's just Chinese minorities all over South East Asia. And most of them don't even speak a word of Han Chinese. 

China preys on 3rd world countries of strategic importance.  You could see this coming.

I am American; I don't much care about Cambo or Laos, especially Cambodia.  As far as I am concerned Cambodia is no longer on the fence, they have found a side to be on. 

Thailand will become a satellite too, so that US can not surround China

with its bases, as they have with Russia. China is looking after it own back yard.

US is the aggressor, over 100 wars since ww2.

Do you remember what Cambodia looked like 50 years ago? It was a nightmare for many Cambodians. 

China at least offered them contracts to get out of the mess, and now you - the inventors of capitalism - complain that they act like capitalists. That's not fair. If you gamble you must be able to accept you lose.
