A rise in criminal incidents was recorded across Cambodia during this year’s Water Festival. National Police spokesman Lieutenant General Chhay Kim Khoeun said that during the three-day festival this year, the number of criminal cases increased by seven compared to the same period last year, which recorded a total of 24.

 

He said that of the 31 cases, six were serious crimes, which resulted in the arrest of seven people and 25 were misdemeanors, which resulted in the arrests of 25 people. However, during this year’s festival, homicides dropped by 66 percent to just one case, while last year recorded three cases.

 

Lt Gen Kim Khoeun said: “Regarding fires, two blazes were recorded in the Kingdom, which is the same as last year.” Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Major General Chuon Narin expressed his appreciation to all the relevant officials whose efforts have helped  crack down on crime, especially burglaries, which improved compared to the previous year.

In my opinion, unbelievably low and I wondered how many such criminal incidents were recorded across Thailand for Loy Krahtong.
