May 5, 200719 yr Hello, I was wondering where I might find a good selection of insects, sold as food. I am interested in cooked, uncooked, ant soup, maeng-da, you name it. Also interested in the little half-hatched bird eggs people eat. I recall years ago seeing this around Chatuchak, but I have not really "hit the streets" of Bangkok in a long time. Any advice on what markets or sois have a selection of edible bugs is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
May 5, 200719 yr Just the man we are looking for, please feel free to visit our farm in North Issan, we have locusts, aphids, ants, red and black, big green grass-hoppers, small snakes, {green head, red neck, brown body, 14" long} big black earth worms, black scorpions {9"long} and lizards, just to whet your appetite, not to mention the mossies!! BKK, should be ok, just eat chicken and pork, normally under-cooked and will provide you with the grubs and other undesireables, Street vendors, ok, ask for fresh meat ect, and if you think its not cooked long enough, tell them to cook for longer, JUst joking Arunsak, but do be carefull of what you eat here, Rgds Lickey
May 7, 200719 yr Howdy, I seen a very nice place for insects dishes at central plaza. It was near the supermarket entrance in a small stall. It was called Insect stand or something close to that name. I'm not much on these dishes. However, My wife was looking for a toasted bamboo grubs. They fried them in sesame oil and served them with differant sauce . The price was like 30 baht per cup of fried goodies. I will say the stall was very clean and did good business. They have free samples Chung *j* ps. the crickets are better than the fried stink bugs
