Sorry if this has been asked before, but I hope someone can help me with some information.

I have a flight til Amsterdam from BKK wil KLM 00.20 on the 16th of December. I was told that I need to show a negative Covid test before boarding. and it has to be fresh. I asked KLM but they said it was up to the countries.

So my questions are:

1) Do I need a negative test?

2) How "fresh" does the test have to be. Some say 48 hours, and others have said 72 hours.

3) And how do you measure how fresh the test is? From the day you get it, or from the day it has taken? I was at the hopsital earlier today, and they said it took them 24 hours to provide me the results. If so, and if the clock starts ticking from the time of the test being taken, I really  need to know, as I am not in Bangkok, but have to fly from the north prior to my international flight.

Hopefully some of you can help me out with this.

Best regards, Ole

Thanks a lot unbonjoe.

So it is not a Thai requirement, but depending on the requirements at the destination. I am Norwegian, and transit from Amsterdam to Oslo. So I guess it depends on the requirement then on the final destination.

I will study your link, and see if I figure out how this thing works.

There is no requirement to have a covid 19 test before leaving the country. It totally depends upon the country you are flying to and/or your final destination.

Is Amsterdam your final destination? Or your home country? You need to know the Covid requirements of the final destination. Most of the time published on government websites.

Final destination is Oslo, Norway with a 3 hour layover in Amsterdam. So I reckon given the information from the map posted and the two of you, that the Norwegian regulations are the relevant ones for my trip.

Thanks a lot, and let me know if I have missed something.

Some countries also require a test just for transit.  For example, I think the UAE still requires it,.  I don't think Amsterdam requires it, but its best to double check with your airline.

Thanks Phillip.

Actually I just recieved an email from KLM saying in need to have a health sertificate. For information for other people planning on travel I will post it here:

"The Dutch government requires a health screening for all passengers travelling to, via or from The Netherlands (Amsterdam Airport Schiphol). During check-in, passengers are subjected to a health statement. This statement will appear while checking-in on klm.com, at the self service kiosk and the KLM mobile app and check-in desk."
