Another "jail Sentence" That Doesn't Happen

Featured Replies

Here's the Breaking News frontpage blurb from the Nation newspaper:

Court sends Manager daily's publisher to two years in jail on defamation suit

The Criminal Court sentenced publisher of Manager daily to six months in jail for defaming a former deputy communication minister in Thaksin government.

Here's the actual article that follows:

..Court sends Manager daily's publisher to two years in jail on defamation suit

The Criminal Court sentenced publisher of Manager daily to six months in jail for defaming a former deputy communication minister in Thaksin government.

However the court suspended the penalty for two years during which the defendant, Khunthong Lorsereewanich, the publisher, is required to report himself every four month.

Former minister, Phumtham filed the defamation charges against Khunthong and five others executives of the paper for printing libelous statements against him in November 2005.

The court on Wednesday ordered the defendant to destroy all copies of the daily's edition of November 23, 2005 that had libelous statements against Phumtham...

Another non-judicial event, not unlike the recent "two year sentence" handed down to another one of the... talkers.
