May 10, 200718 yr Suddendly my torrent speeds have dropped to 10 percent of what they were, and i have made no config changes whatsoever. is anybody else experiencing this? I used to be able to suck a 700mb movie down in 3-5 hours, other popular torrents were coming in in under an hour, now i hvent had a file complete in 3 or 4 days. my neighbor has noticed the same thing and we areboth using true hispeed. I notved in bitlord that the peers i am connecting to are all locally initiated, where before it was a mix of local and remote initiation. are the power that be throttling torrents? ts

I use true 2mb hispeed, have enjoyed decent speeds up till recently. Has anyone else out there noticed a slowdown or do you ahve any suggestions on how to improve speeds. my ports are forwarded properly etc..
May 15, 200718 yr I had/have similar problems with legal software torrents from both universities in the US and Isreal. Despite setting everything I can think of, and then some the torrent speeds are variable. It's a case of what will I get this time? Lukily I don't need it all the time, so a slow overnight session {oh er..} is OK. I know that the ISP's here use 'traffic shaping' software to 'provide a better managed service' There's lies, dam lies ,and ISP service descriptions. Regards /edit a water barrier no n there then //
May 15, 200718 yr Author utorrent , turn on encryption ........................... encryption on. always has been. still a shadow of what it was
May 15, 200718 yr varies a lot for me , time of day , # of seeds , end game mode is noticeably slower ie files slow considerably as they approach completion , as i said earlier , i've never seen more than 10% of my advertised speed , 10% applies to dl via a dl mgr and also ftp .............. and at 10% , surfing the net is like watching paint dry .
May 15, 200718 yr officially. the CAT is developed and enforcing the system to cut down any torrent activity. The algorithm of such was purchased 3-4 months ago, now less and less torrents are going through ... The reason is bloody simple: far too many connections from sub-contractors to handle, huge loss of bandwidth for commercial sites, mostly illegal downloads ( not from client PC, but at the sub-contractors). This is not a rumor neither gossip. Sorry folks. PS I do have details, but if I tell, I have to commit suicide.
May 15, 200718 yr we areboth using true hispeed. There's your problem. True sucks. Set up a wireless link to your office and use the spare bandwidth at night.
May 18, 200718 yr Author and the saga continues, just lost the ability to see incoming connections. yesterday everything was fine, today no joy at all. still no config changes tto the network, and utorrent portfroward check tells me my port is closed. yesterday it was fine. god forbid i should go back to watching UBC
May 18, 200718 yr Here I have the opposite phenomenon: BT runs ok, with good speed, but browsing and all else sucks. (Yes, I have throttled my BT speed to about 40% of available bandwidth ...., and: The occasional FTP DL in the background works well too ...) Sunny
May 18, 200718 yr PS I do have details, but if I tell, I have to commit suicide. Oh yes, please tell Here I have the opposite phenomenon: BT runs ok, with good speed, but browsing and all else sucks. (Yes, I have throttled my BT speed to about 40% of available bandwidth ...., and: The occasional FTP DL in the background works well too ...)Sunny Same here, slow browsing even when nothing else is running, but maxing out on P2P.
May 20, 200718 yr No P2P with Cat BUT Usenet downloading is possible and probably faster... (http://binsearch.info/) Have fun oh
