Dear Forum,

I am just wondering is it still possible to apply for a work permit in the last 3 month period of a non B visa? I will be entering the last 3 month period of my non b shortly (utilizing it to the full 15 month mark) and wondered if it is still possible to apply for a work permit as the visa utilization date will be next month. Thanks in advance for any advice information, greatly appreciated!

Best regards

Yes you can. You will still be here on a B visa entry even after the actual visa expires.

Hi lopburi3, thank you very much for the clarification on this matter. Would you be able to advise as to the time period for the processing of said Work Permit?

Thanks again for your help!

I am here on a Non im B Visa multiple entry and have not recieved my work permit yet, I am awaiting all the paper and the contract from my new Job I am about to start we have been working out all the details.

I have been here now almost 3 months, I was told even though I have a multiple entry non B that I was only allowed to leave during the 1 year a total of two times and that I must also get a re-entry stamp before I leave as to not have my visa canceled.

Someone Please help me as I am so confused.

Regards,

Paula

Paula,

You have been given bad information. You can come and go as many times as you like. …even if that’s more than 300 times in a year. Every time you enter you will get 90 days entry stamp. You do not have to get a reentry stamp before you leave, it would be throwing 1,000 Baht away plus you would only get whatever days remaining on the 90 day stamp. If you had 3 days left on the 90 stamp, that’s all you would get when you reenter. By just leaving and coming back in, you get a fresh 90 days.

Someone has been confusing your multi entry visa with an extension of stay permit

The processing may not be your problem. Your work visa will be limited to the last day of your visa extension. So although you might still have another two months left to remain in the Kingdom, you work permit will expire on the same day as your visa. When you renew your Non-B visa, you will need to renew your work permit as well. Unless things have changed in the past two weeks....

Thanks for the Info Physherman, reading through the post I would like to please ascertain that the following is correct to my understanding:

Work Permit expires on same date as Non Imm B; both Visa and WP will require 'renewing'. Therefore to 'renew' said work permit and Non Imm B before expiry, would mean leaving the country for 'renewal of visa' or would both Non Imm B and WP be 'extended' at Immigration within Thailand, with the supporting documents from my Employer? (this I gather would be Extension based on Business?) - As you may gather I am not 100 percent certain if my understanding above is correct, Thank you very much in advance for the Knowledge and assistance!

Best regards

On page 5 of the work permit, it will in most cases, it will read " Valid for one year" However the one year work permit itself on page 2 will state it expires on the same day as the 90 day visa. This is because the one year work permit corresponds to the visa.

When Kratindaeng gets the work permit he has two options.

1. Get an extension of stay based on business inside Thailand and have his work permit correspond to this one year extension of stay permit. This extension of stay will have much harder criteria than the Labor Dept had for the work permit.

2. Get a multi entry visa outside the country at a Thai Embassy/ Consulate. Kratindaeng then would revalidate his work permit every 90 days to correspond with his 90 day entry stamp by coming back into Thailand and showing the new entry stamp at the Labor Dept.

Hope this helps Kratindaeng.

Dear Greg,

Thank you for your valuable input, spot on as always and also clarifies for me that Option .2. above would be the ideal route to take, so to speak. Thanks again for the valuable knowledge shared. Very much appreciated.
