A bakery in Thailand has launched doughnuts covered in edible 24-karat gold flakes.

The snack is filled with cream made from Madagascar vanilla beans and luxury champagne. Each donut is priced at about US$130, which comes in a gift box with knife and fork.

People eat doughnuts with a knife and fork?

How terribly effete.

It's been a momentous week....yesterday we found out that Elite Visa Brits spend 3000 baht daily and now we know what they are spending it on...ha ha ha ha

There's a gourmet burger restaurant in Egypt that it will serve up a burger complete with edible gold leaf for a cool 1,188 THB. If you're a bit strapped for cash you can have the cheaper one with silver for 940 THB.

I never indulged in these particular delights, but I have to say their burgers were the best I've ever had in my life.

Well, in that case, I guess we would have to take a loan as 130 US$ is way above our 3,000 Baht daily spending. (allowance? )

I'm sure Thai Elite would arrange a discount voucher for the balance for only 1900 baht

it gives a slight metal taste to the donut

and some flakes get stuck between teeth,

other than that, 100% would do again

Bull.

24k gold leaf imparts absolutely zero taste to food.  It is added merely for effect and luxury.

I've eaten it, I've used it on food at parties, still have a book of sheets in my kitchen.

Either you've never actually eaten 24k gold, or you were scammed.
