Featured Replies

A 34-year glass cutter was arrested on Sunday for posting a video on social media insulting government leaders over the stringent measures put in place to prevent the COVID-19 spread in the Kingdom. The suspect identified as Nov Kloeung, also known as Mean Ponlork, was arrested in Kampong Cham province’s Batheay district’s  Pha’av commune about 11am in accordance with Kampong Cham Provincial Court’s arrest warrant.

The suspect was arrested for  “incitement to commit felony and insult” under Articles 494, 495 and 502 of the Criminal Code and with “obstruction to the implementation of measures” under Article 11 of Law on Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 and other Deadly and Serious Infectious Diseases.

If he is convicted, he will face a jail sentence of between six months to three years and a fine from $500 to $2,500. He added that the suspect now has been sent to Kampong Cham Provincial Court for questioning.
