Taggart Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Hi, A friend gave us a video on CD that they'd shot. My nephew got it going on the computer, and I watched it with the family while over in Thailand. I don't know what software he used to show the video. I've brought it home and now I can't get it to play on my computer. It seems to pick up Realplayer, then asks to update the software, but Realplayer says there is no software content to support the file. My operating system is MS 2000 Pro. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
crockett Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Taggart, try this one: http://www.filehippo.com/download_real_alternative/ Make sure you include installation of "Media Player Classic" as well. When you want to play the movie, do not just double click on it, rather right click, then click "Open with" and choose "Media Player Classic". Hope that helps.

Hi Crockett, Before, when using Realplayer, I got sound but no picture, and then within a minute I got the error messages as I mentioned. I did as you suggested and downloaded Mediaplayer Classic. However, again I get sound, with no error messages this time, but no picture either, just a small blank box in the corner of the screen. Tried to press play on this but still no picture. Tywais Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Sounds like a codec problem. Try downloading VLC Player which handles hugh numbers of codecs internally.

Hi Pumper, After reading your post, the light bulb went on. Unfortunately, this VCD doesn't work on my old DVD player. The video camera our Thai friend has, cost the equivalent of 6000 baht. I don't follow the latest trends in electronic equipment, but I can't believe how good the the picture quality is for so low a price.
