This would be a welcome shop for farang women. I'm not very big in any terms (height, bust, hips), but finding nice things that fit were so difficult in Thailand and also embarrassing to shop for. I also only like cotton lingerie, especially in the tropics. I bought alot at Marks and Sparks in London; very pretty and comfortable. But trying to find the same in Thailand was a nightmare. And shopping for it -- it always seemed the lingerie section was beside the main escalator.

Lingerie also does not last in Thailand. You wear new pieces after every shower three or four times a day; wash them out and after two months or so they just start to disintegrate.

Victoria Secret brands are lovely.

Hi Jet,

Totally agree with you about Marks & Spencers underwear - although I can never understand why the prices are so high here :o

NOt sure where you live but Marks and Spencers, Central Chit Lom currently have 2 sales rails for underwear - and they have some gorgeous and reasonably priced stuff!

And an extra benefit... it's in the corner and right by a large changing room - No escalators!! :D ..... Plus if they are not busy, they let you take loads of pieces in to try on, so you don;t have to keep getting dressed and undressed if you ares shopping alone! :D

As an aside, does anyone know where I can buy a swimsuit for regular swimming - as opposed to casual lazing by the pool/beach - (that will fit a long body and not cut off my circulation or dig into the ole shouders???). All suggestions gratefully received!

Hi all,

Some time ago I asked here where to find some heels and clothes for EU sized women and they told me to go Patunam.

So my female friend and I went there but could not find her size shoes and others.

She is coming again end of this month and asked me again where to find boots clothes and stuff as she feels they are much cheaper here.

She is 1.80 CM tall and have a 44 shoe size.

Yep she is working as a model.

Anyone here knows a specific place to go?

Alex, I found the clothes in Pratunam to be extremely small so not sure if I missed the larger size place or not. That said, MBK can often have larger size shoes, not sure about the 44's as those are some big feet for a woman, sounds like your friend is an Amazon!

Anyway, maybe some of the taller girls can point you in the right direction but I am shortish (165) and fairly small and I have had difficulties finding nice, cute women's clothes that fit correctly.

Hi NR,

That does not sound to promising.

I remember when my friend and I found a nice shoe shop somewhere in Patunam and we asked for a 43-44 size and the guy came up with a 42 and trying to stretch it to her feet size.

After half an hour stretching and trying to fit it, it did not work out, so my friend a bit sad.

Guy offered to make some tailor made shoes but waiting time was three weeks.

We did find some t-shirts but I think they were male shirts, anyway she buy some.

I really do not know where to bring her now for the next visit, maybe I ask the shoe guy to make something for her.

Bambina advice please!

You shoudl try the Big and Tall Store.

Or perhaps you could go back to Farang Land! Their you might not be considered so fat :o . You might find brasieres that fit?

I did not know bras had to be "trained" I thought that it came natural to them :D .

If you were mildly intelligent you'd know that ladies around the globe have hurdles when it comes to finding comforatble bras, regardless of their cultural background, boob size, or their current cultural situation.

If you were mildly amusing, you'd be friends with some people here and could say to, for example, Donna, that you could happily help her into a comfortable, sex-appeal, fitting bra that will drive her more sensually mad than it would me.

But you are neither, so I suggest you p1ss off.

Regards,

Kayo.

One of my friends told me a new western lingerie business was launched in Bangkok this week called Smoochie Smoochie. Anyone go to the launch or know about it? Owned by expats and specialises in *bigger than your average Thai* sized stuff.

Heard it was attended by about 600 people; anyone who's anyone was there and their lingerie collection was amazing with larger sizes too. I believe you can contact them at [email protected] to host a lingerie party or have a personal fitting at their pink offices. They've both been in Bangkok ages.....

They now seem to have a feedback form online www.smoochiesmoochie.com/ but looks like they might be doing party plan rather than online orders... Maybe everyone needs to come to Bangkok and we can have a TV Ladies underwear show?

I've also heard they're getting a lot of bookings for parties and people can visit their office to try on and make purchases.......sounds like something Bangkok's needed for a long time.

We were discussing how most Thai women have very little clue as to what bra size they should wear (same with American women and probably many others as well), and how most lingerie seems to be out in open bins at the local department store. We have been considering opening up a classy store with no windows to the outside where women could come in, and in privacy, discuss their needs with a trained staff member who can get them the right product and the right size. My friend is gay, so she thinks getting gay men as the staff would be better, but I am open to anything.

With the extra service and quality of lingerie being offered, prices would be somewhat higher than the norm.

Does this enterprise sound plausible?

Think Thai women tend to know their bra sizes. The problem arises when they go to a different country, where the sizes may differ. I believe in Asia they often upgrade by a cup, so women feel better about it

I have problems picking sizes for my wife in the UK for things like tops/ dress. Especially when you start talking 2's, 4's, 6's, 8's etc which have little relation to many real measurements such as height/ breasts etc. Apparently you are just a 4 or an 8. Because we only go back at Xmas she doesn't know her UK size either. So if you also have size comparisons would be good.

The other one that can be funny sometimes is getting clothes to fit. She often ends up in the children section. Had some funny looks once when I was buying dressing gowns for age 14-15 in Marks and Spencer for my wife. Then when I mentioned she was also pregnant.....

There don't seem as many lingerie shops in Thailand, and actually Thai women seem less interested in underwear than western women. I think it's changing, but anything that brings a little more balance gets my vote! UK shop assistants are often not so good at guessing Asian sizes. All in all I think perhaps you'll also get interest from foreign guys with Thai wives.

Not sure of your ideas on gays. One or two maybe. But most people tend to prefer intimate measurements being done by someone of same sex. Tho' guys are generally more tolerant of the idea.

Perhaps I start with saying that I am a man. I am married to a Thai woman. And we both love shopping for cloth for her, including lingerie. And that's sometimes difficult here in Thailand. Thai people have not yet discovered the pleasure of shopping lingerie.

So if you open a shop for lingerie, please bear in mind that men like to accompany their wife (girlfriend) for this shopping trip. Make it an experience, and adventure for both of them. That means, add some chairs or better armchairs for us guys waiting for her. Offer some all day lingerie but also some sexy lingerie, we guys love that. We can be very generous for this kind of things, sins, presents.

If we guys have to stand around, always being kind of "in the way", we prefer to leave. But if we can sit down, enjoy the show, wow! we can find another piece for her and another .... and this little "nothing", almost transparent... mmh...wonderful.

Incidentally, what about sexy lingerie for men?

So if you ever open this shop, let us know; we will be among your first clients.

I am happy to hear that a new line of apparel has just been introduced that will be more comfortable to the larger sized Female. This new clothing line would be ideal for the Big and Tall store. :D

As far as p1ss off. I don't have the same interest in urine as you do. :D

i suspect that they will be western priced, but i dont care about that. i pay AUD$50 for one bra in australia, so it wouldnt bother me to pay a bit more here.

as i said, many thai women will be more than happy to pay good money for a good bra. my thai girlfriends often check out my bras and tell me that if they sold that quality here then they would buy them...

Obviously you have reasons for paying those prices - I wouldn't.

Had a GF that worked at the Playtex warehouse in Sydney. Bras come in by the container from China @ under $4 each.

They are then priced for the shops - all from the same boxes.

$5 for the 'discount shops'

$10 for target

$25 for DJs

$40 for ...

same bra. same factory. same delivery. only difference was the price & label.

The interesting part was one of her jobs there - removing the 'made in china' label & replacing it with 'product of australia'.
