I am 25 years old, from the USA, and I'm currently in Siem Riep, Cambodia trying to go to Thailand in a day or two. I want to get a 60 day tourist visa because I don't want to have to do a visa run while I'm there, and I have almost two months before my ticket leaves. I'm going to be going to Thailand by bus, through Aranyaprathet, and I'm wondering if it's possible to just apply for and get the tourist visa there at the border. I've been asking people here in Siem Reip, but they all want to charge me a whole lot of money and say I have to give them my pasport for a week, and so I'm trying to find any way that I could hopefully get the visa and be in Thailand within another two days or so. I've looked online for hours, and I'm still confused, so Please, Any Help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Yes there is a Thai consulate in the town before the border where you can get a tourist visa before crossing into Thailand.

You need to leave your passport overnight at the consulate

No ... Visas are given at Embassies and Consulates

You will get a 30 day visa exemption at the border and may be req'd to show a ticket for onward travel

2) Aranyapathet-Poipet Border is the place where you can turn in and out and get another entry or 30 days. There is no Thai Consulate here, but rather a small Immigration post. If you wish to enter Cambodia through Poipet to travel around Cambodia and then leave at the same crossing point, be sure that your Thai visa has not been expired, or you will be given 30 days... otherwise you will have to make a double painful trip, either back to Siemreap for taking a direct flight out or even further to Phnompenh to get a new re-entry Thai visa. Its counterpart at Koh Kong border gives 30-days Thai Visa

There is no consulate in Poipet

LOL, your un-edited message was stating that there was a consulate at Aran, I was just thinking something like, why would there be a consulate inside the thai border ?

I was thinking of the one at Savannaketh (on the Lao side...)

The poster has a problem. To obtain a visa for Thailand he will have to travel to Phnom Penh and apply at the Embassy. Not likely to be a pleasant experience and will take several days, at best.

Second option is to enter using visa exempt entry. The problem is that his ticket out of Thailand is more than 30 days later so he will not be allowed to enter.

So he will either have to change his travel date (and change back later?); obtain a new ticket within 30 days; or travel to Phnom Penh for a visa.
