Malaysian man gets death penalty for killing 2 Japanese in Thailand

BANGKOK — A Thai court sentenced a Malaysian man to death Thursday for killing two Japanese last year in Pathum Thani Province, directly north of Bangkok.

The province's Thanyaburi district Court meted out the sentence to George Fernandase, 65, who was convicted of intentional murder and illegal arms possession in the slaying of 53-year-old businessman Yoshio Kojima and 52-year-old Tatsuya Hisagane, Kojima's personal interpreter.
