Room Near Airport

Recommended Posts

i might have to spend one night on koh samui because i am flying out the next morning and i can't get there in time from koh phangan without a hassle. so- can anyone recommend me a cheap, decent place to stay for one night not far from the airport (easy to get a taxi from)? i stayed at samui mermaid resort before but i couldn't find any decent food or mini marts around there, and it would be nice to be able to watch tv maybe or something. thx

better you will looking for something in Bophut Area... because SAmui Airport is not far.

Anyway Thais says "Mai mi pangha" ...... (not problem) and they will sugggest to you Chaweng or Bophut Area.

Manu Chao :o

Mermaid still the best option, 7/11 just down the road, restaurants as well....no other place springs to mind.

where is the 7-11? i couldn't find that or any food shops but admittedly didn't go far...

5+ min. (or aprox. 100m) down the road with the beach on your right hand side and it's also on the right hand side, can't miss it. Plus mini mart on the other side!

Mermaid OK or Shambala further down the road near ferry pier to Had Rin. They also have a restaurant. Actually many restaurants along the road in Bangrak. 7-11 is right next to Had Rin pier, also a mini-mart nearby. If you want up-market dining try the new restaurant at Saboey Resort.

Ban Rak is one of the best places to stay in Samui, by far. I've been staying at Maya Inn off the ring road. You turn left at what used to be Ting Tong Corner.

They have about 10 rooms at 490 baht a night. It is adjacent to their resort that the rooms are much higher. The rooms I stay in are for fellas and their girls for hire, but who cares. The rooms are super clean and the staff are so nice and not at all slimy. Free porn channel and one free condom. :D

The other thing that is great is that check out is at 12:00, but you can pay by the hour so if you want to go do some shopping and what not before you head back to KP they just charge you like a 100 baht to check out later.

I'm going to be taking the new boyfriend there as soon as I get back :o

Anyway, Oriental next to the pier isn't bad, but check the bed. Some of them need to be replaced. Samui Garden is good that's going towards boput. Mermaid was great, but the water got bad. Anyone been there lately in the cheap rooms? Is Shambala the one with the Yellow sign? I stayed there and very nice, but no T.V. in the room I stayed in.

There is a fantastic place to eat across from 7-11.

Everything is there. Yummy Issan, Southern you name it. It's like 3 different food stalls all grouped together. One of them is called 3 guys or something like that. All the people working there are men. They make the best Larb and Som Tum and the khoa Nieo is always hot. So yummy. BBQ cat fish!!! They open around 4:00 pm.

Boput is too expensive now. I used to stay there all the time, but I don't think you can get a good room for under 700 baht, can you?

I have a comfy couch in my house very close to the airport. I live in a nice and big 1 bedroom bungalow. I also have a king size bed if you want to share. I am only into Asian chicks so don't worry about a come on. Very nice guy and have only killed a few people in my life and only committed to the nut house 3 times. :o

Mermaid is closest, GirlX. Cheap, clean. Got 2 restaurants there. Come out the front, hang a right and walk down the ring road ten minutes to 7-11, bars, restaurants. Hang a left and walk around the corner towards the temple and there's a wet market with cheap fruit, etc and a couple of restaurants, too.

Paul Allen, I thought we tried to confine you before? :o

You can stay on Chaweng, at least there should be some signs of life there.

Green Guesthouse has fan rooms for 400 baht. Air con for 600. TV for 700 baht.

Good safe location in the centre of Chaweng.

thanks for all the responses... I ended up just staying at Samui Mermaid again, but this time it wasn't so bad. I got a room on the beach side and found the 7-11 as well as some bars and restaurants. The staff at the hotel is sort of rude but otherwise everything went well.

They were RUDE to you? The beachside restaurant gals, probably. I will have a word.

is it your place? i guess they weren't really rude, just sort of apathetic. i was actually referring to the front desk guy, who seemed irritated at my questions like "in which direction is the 7-11". the restaurant girls were too busy gossiping with a ladyboy to bother with me. but i guess "rude" isn't exactly the right word. it's pretty normal in thailand not to get good service.
