What do you think about divorce being illegal in Philippines?

Currently, the Philippines and the Vatican are the only two sovereign states in the entire world that still prohibit divorce.

Opponents of this initiative argue that, if divorce is allowed, it will destroy the institution of marriage.

 

Unlike western countries, the family code laws in the Philippines forbid divorce.

 

The Philippines, with 80% of its population being devoutly Roman Catholic.

 

Today the Philippines is the only country that holds onto the Catholic belief that divorce is immoral and continues to have a law-making divorce illegal.

Other prominent Catholic countries did away with banning divorce many years ago, the last being Malta in 2011.

So, can married man have girlfriend?

 

Married man can have live in relationship with an unmarried woman which does not attract the charge of adultery.

 

However, the wife of the man can file a divorce suit on the ground of cruelty based on the above conduct of the married man.

What is the cost of Legal Separation in the Philippines?

The filing fee for legal separation is below P10,000 if there are not properties involved, higher if there are properties involved. There are also the legal fees and other miscellaneous charges.

 

So why does the Philippines need a divorce law?

 

It terminates a marriage based on a ground that occurred during the marriage, which makes the marital relationship no longer tenable, regardless of the spouse's psychological constitution. A divorce law will provide a straightforward remedy to a marital failure. It will benefit Filipinos wherever they are.

 

If you did want to divorce then lawyer’s rates go from P80,000 to P150,000; the filing fee could be around P10,000; and the entire process of filing for legal separation, annulment, or the nullity of marriage can reach P350,000 (sometimes higher).

It is also expensive and can be very traumatic.

well the Chinoy in the Philippines can have as many minor wives as he can afford...... 

 

the jeepney driver can have as many girlfriends as he can juggle....

 

and the unmarried young Pinoy can father as many children as he can run away from......

 

Sooooo Lucky that Catholic priests prefer little boys.........

 

and the Vatican has no female citizens......convenient

 

"devout" Catholicism is the shabu of the uneducated masses...... (we moved on from opium....)
