The Minister of Rural Development started the flooded forest restoration project in Kampong Chhnang, which would focus on reforesting three locations.

Minister Ouk Rabun, who is also the Chairman of the National Task Force for Strengthening Kampong Chhnang, organized a campaign to plant more than 4,000 palm trees and bamboo plants in collaboration with the Ministry of Land Management, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, and Kampong Chhnang Provincial Administration.

Three sections in Chronok Commune, Kampong Leng District, Kampong Cham, which borders Kampong Thom, will be reforested as part of the initiative. On the morning of December 14, the campaign was started.

"Today (December 14), we worked with the relevant ministries, the Peaceful Youth Coalition, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, districts and provinces, government officials throughout the province, students, and the armed forces to plant thousands of palm trees and bamboo trees in the three areas of the state to increase the flooded forest as a fish sanctuary around the Tonle Sap Lake to be as abundant as before," Minister Rabun said.

The Minister declared that individuals implicated in destruction and encroachment of Tonle Sap's swamp woods will be prosecuted.
