Thai Rath reported on a press conference attended by RTP deputy commander Gen Roy Inkhaphairoj who gave details of a Songkran crime crackdown from 8th to 14th April.

In total 44,833 were arrested in cases involving gambling, drugs, guns, prostitution and online crime.

Main point of interest was that 777 people had been caught under the banner of sharing and starting fake news.

fake news...dangerous slope to go down.  Anything the top decides can be labeled fake then.

Tomorrow Lottery.... more numbers to come today

Imagine if in a certain country you could arrest for "fake" news.   think back a few years...

150 million people would be in jail (50% or those who didn't vote correctly).   then an executive order that inmates cannot vote.

there's also a reason we don't live in any neighboring country......seems worse.

So far all i have read about this holiday is threats of crackdown, hefty fines and jail term  and don't do this and don't do that for people who just want to have fun, who says holidays in Thailand is not fun?...

777 is the right promotion for the new casino they are planning to open.

Arrested then what ? Jail doubt it more like a monetary penalty and off you go !

And yet we constantly hear about how crowded Thai jails are.

Go on then, tell us how many merry monks in that figure !????

Is chet-chet-chet more auspicious than hok-hok-hok or hah-hah-hah?

Nice makeup Sir, lighter shade of lippy would suit you better though.

Well, better than a "holiday in Cambodia" in the old days, though sometimes I wonder.

I was expecting "arrested for throwing water", and now this!

Reminds me when my Son was searching for a shop to provide/install marble counters in his new kitchen.

We went into one outfit, looked at many different textures/colours etc.  Son agreed for the manager/owner (not at the shop at the time) to come to the house to take accurate measurements.

Later manager arrives at the house, dressed like a building labourer (nothing wrong with that), with womens shoes and full make up. But no effeminate behaviors or atitudes etc.

They did the job, well organized, good work, reasonable price, all completed about 3 days later.

The BiB might be more gainfully employed prosecuting actual crimes rather that 'thought crimes'?
