Daily News Thai Caption: Arrested at the motorcycle taxi rank

Pol Lt-Gen Jiraphop Phuridech announced the arrest of two motorcycle taxi riders in a 15 year old case of murder.

Back in July of 2007 Phichitchai Diloksri or Bang Khreh, 61, who used to be a councillor in the Wang Thong Lang area of Bangkok arranged for the murder of a man called Niphon in Bang Nam Phriaw district of Chachoengsao, reported Daily News.

The victim had his head covered in duct tape and had his legs and arms bound. He was then shot in the head with an 11 mm gun.

He had been lured to Chachoengsao by a woman called Supreeya or Oi, 44, who used a ruse about renting his van for 1,600 baht.

His van was set on fire after he was abducted and killed.

Seven people were involved and five of these were arrested leaving two outstanding warrants for murder, abduction, arson and weapons' offences.

These were served on Thanit and Rattana, both 44. They were arrested at taxi ranks in Wang Thong Lang and Ramkhamhaeng Soi 39 respectively.

Thanit admitted the crime saying he brought the gun. Rattana denies being involved.

The case resolved around a disagreement related to a motorcycle taxi rank protection racket.
