Teen security guard gets 300,000 baht reward for return of cat - even though Manee the Moggy went home by herself

Daily News That Caption: 300,000 B (reward) actually paid

Daily News published a charming story about a post online on the page Kingdom of Tigers in which a cat owner said their pet had gone missing and offered a 300,000 baht reward.

It was no ordinary cat; a short haired Scottish Fold breed called Manee. The breed is known for having a natural gene mutation affecting cartilage that flops the cat's ears forward.

Eighteen year old night shift security guard Piya Phoonsanthia was the first to see the missing moggy.

But he was unable to catch her and she ran off into some neighbors' houses.

He called Manee's owner to say he had made the sighting. In hinsight this proved a wise decision.

The cat eventually went back home of its own accord prompting netizens to speculate as to who - if anyone - would get the reward.

This has now been answered in an  online post by Piya who works at the Noble Tara Town in Town 3 estate in Bangkok.

He was grasping 300,000 baht in fresh banknotes.

He spoke of his thanks and the fact that the cat bears the same name as his mum Manee who he went to bless at Songkran.

He also plans to use some of his windfall - perhaps two years or more salary for a young security guard - to make merit.

Some people have more money than sense , 300,000 THB reward,

they should have known it would return when it was hungry .but a

good day for the young lad, spend it wisely ,or better still save it

So the cat was probably never actually lost, it was, by the sound of it, just doing what all cats do and exploring it’s territory.

The owner will soon be bankrupt if that’s how they react to such behaviour.

Now that would be a cat-astrophic outcome for its owner…a purrfect outcome for any passing security guards mind.

Well the poor security guard probably needed that money much more than the cat owner, so it's not a bad thing.

Not many of these Scottish cats, maybe one.

That's a mean looking cat.

Maybe the cat had a diamond vest on. My neighbor's cat comes over my house everyday and wants to stay with me, nice cat but I get no money for telling him to go home.

Hope he uses it wisely and sets himself up in something.

The Monks are salivating already. Sorry but i say it as it is.

Going by that Photo, That's a lot of pussy you take home for  300,000, and it may only stay for a short time, before you see it again, and even then sitting on someone else's lap.  ???? ????

wrong ! i would it only you !

you feel strong against cats ? lets see how you feel against me ? take as many bamboos as you want, I just need my hand to explain you, we italian people always speak with hands...

Worse  than dogs  decimating the bird/ amphibian  life, but  oh  no you cant   tell any cat  lover that,  its  just not true is  it. Its  a plague and  again in typical  Thai style like the dogs  now  well  out of control.

The cat and the security guard were in on it together.  Hope they split the 300K equally.

Money well spent. Cat lowers are good people.

Dog lovers are antisocial.

Now this has been publicized, distant relatives and past friends are beating down his door.

Domestic cats know where they live.

They will return when they are ready, or will have had a cat-astrophe and will never be seen again.

Unlike the  moggy this  will be gone already and no way is it  coming back

What I see is only good incentive for future thieve.

Not to mention new friends who the kind young man has never seen before.

I find it less than ethical for the media to publish his full details and exose him to being scammed. Just his name (no surname, and no details of how/where he is employed).

Media, you should be ashamed.

I saw the Original story on TV before they found the Cat, and my GF told me that it was an rare indoor cat, had never been outside before and the cat was missing for many days so owner thought it could not find its way home, and cars other animals is very dangerous for a Cat that is indoor only,

Taken care of a fair share of pussy myself and never paid by anyone for doing so????
