Receive money in Thailand from U.S. Credit card

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to receive money in Thailand being send from a friend that can only pay me with a USA credit card ? I tried using PayPal and Wise but I don't have a business account only a personal account. Crypto not an option either.

Any suggestions on how to receive the money will be much appreciated.

Your friend has a credit card and you have a PayPal account.

1. Does your friend also have a PayPal account?

2. Does your friend have a bank account?

3. Do you have a bank account?

I transfer money from my USA bank account to my Bangkok Bank account here in Pattaya by using my credit card for a cash advance.    I pay off the credit card at the end of each month via internet banking.

The credit card company charges a small fee plus you are paying BKK bank exchange rates, which are a bit higher than you can get at some currency exchange places, but it is much much less expensive than the bank to bank transfer my US bank charges.

If you have a foreign bank account and credit card perhaps your friend can make the deposit to your foreign bank and you can transfer the money to Thailand the way I do.

If your friend also has WISE, or can get it, they can fund transfers to you with their US credit card. Probably the cheapest option. Western Union has an online option that would also work, quite a bit more expensive though.

Western Union, Moneygram paid by your friend in the USA at one of these outlets in the USA or can be done online.

Money can be collected from many outlets all over Thailand using your passport ID and the code which your friend will send to you.
