I have just finished a very nervous FOUR MONTHS without receiving my American Social Security pension, and wouldn't wish the same thing to happen to you. I did not keep them informed of my latest address, and they stopped my monthly check. Now that the problem is settled, I thought I'd remind others to keep your payers informed of your address and existence. They might assume you're dead!

Being overseas, you may not be able to reach the 'toll-free number,' or it will cost you up to 9 baht per minute to listen to the unending list of call options..."for annuitants of the Foreign Service who served in Bhutan in 1979, push 7; for widows of ......" I discovered, the hard way, that the amoeba who staff the call center don't know what to advise pensioners who are outside the country. The first reply that I mailed by EMS disappeared into some black hole. My consulate helped greatly.

So, I advise that you keep your payers informed.
