Have a friend (Thai) who wants to go to Monaco for two weeks vacation. She doesn't have a sponsor, but she has the money in her bank (longer than 3 months) to cover all necessary expenses (calculated 4000 Bt/day + hotel). She doesn't have a job so no employer letter. Does anyone know if the French Immigration requires proof of employment? How hard are they in general for tourist visas? She does have a house and a car in her name.

I offer an informed opinion. Employment is not a prerequisite for a Shengen visa but without it, or a sponsor, she will be refused unless she provides evidence of continuing independent means to demonstrate she is unlikely to seek work in the black economy.

It's a few years ago now but I found the French consulate sympathetic when getting a TV for a GF (mind you I speak French).

The fact she owns a house helps in the "reason for return".

Without prying , if she owns a house and a car she must have some income ?

Again without prying (and not being judgemental) could she disclose this to the consulate ?

Unless she books a roundtrip with an well known Holiday Company and unless she has enough money to cover the full 90 days of her Schengen visa and unless she does have 35,000 Euro health insurance coverage the chances are almost zero that she will receive a visa.

If she had a child which stayed behind in Thailand it might have helped, a house and a car say very little, nobody will be able to touch it. It is not the same as a sponsor, but even when she had a sponsor it would be difficult as you need to prove that the sponsor is familiar with her for a significant period of time.

The entire problem is that too many North African gangs are operating from the Southern part of France, who seem to prey on these ladies and force them in very nasty jobs.

And honestly spoken, why should a Thai girl go on holiday for two weeks to one of the most expensive places in Europe. It is simply not believable.
