Listen to the news:

F1 - Oscar Piastri says he will not replace Fernando Alonso at Alpine next season - after the team said he would. Alpine announced yesterday afternoon that the 21-year-old would race "in line with the commitments made by the team to the young Australian".

But Piastri then tweeted that he had "not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023 and will not be driving for them next year". Late last night, an Alpine spokesperson said in response: "We believe we are legally correct in our statement but don't have anything further to say."

Golf - Tiger Woods turned down in the region of $700m to $800m to join the new Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series, said chief executive Greg Norman in a TV interview.

A host of top players have joined the breakaway tour, which Woods said he disagreed with. He maintained his allegiance to the PGA Tour and said at St Andrews last month he does not "see how the move is a positive one in the long term for a lot of those players".

China's first major winner Shanshan Feng announced her retirement from professional golf yesterday, saying she wanted to "slow down a little" and spend more time with her family.

Feng became the first player from her country, male or female, to win a major with her victory in the Women's PGA Championship in 2012. She also won 10 LPGA titles and attained the world number one ranking in 2017.

Football - Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2027. The Portugal international who is 25, has scored 34 goals in 85 games since joining from Wolves in 2020 for £41m.
