Krachiao Suphan confirmed as the world’s first Krachiao plant species of its kind

Thailand’s Botanical Garden Organisation (BGO) has recently given the scientific name to a new species of Krachiao plant, or Siam tulip (Curcuma Suphanensis P), in the Zingiberaceae family, which was found for the first time by a team of botanists back in 2018 in the central province of Suphan Buri.

Farmland and residential areas flooded after dike partially collapses in Si Sa Ket

About 960 hectares of farmland and residential areas in two districts of Thailand’s north-eastern province of Si Sa Ket are flooded, after an earthen dike partially collapsed yesterday (Sunday), due to increased water pressure in the swollen Lam Siao Yai River, a tributary of the Mun River.

Bangkok takes precautions ahead of arrival of tropical storm Noru this Thursday

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has taken steps, including draining water out of canals in and around the city and procuring 2.5 million sandbags to reinforce flood walls, to brace for heavy rain and possible waterway overflows induced by tropical storm Noru, which is expected to hit some north-eastern provinces this Thursday.

Historian claims collapsed Chang Phuak Gate and wall in Chiang Mai were rebuilt 80 years ago

A retired fine arts lecturer at Chiang Mai University has claimed that the ancient Chiang Mai city wall and Chang Phuak Gate, which partially collapsed due to heavy rain last weekend, are not the original wall and gate built over seven centuries ago, but were rebuilt only about 80 years ago.
