Banksy and controversy go hand in hand but a new exhibition due to be held in Bangkok is controversial for reasons you might not expect

For anyone visiting Bangkok between October and the end of the year, a new exhibition showcases the work of Banksy, regarded by many as the world’s greatest graffiti artist.

The Art of Banksy: Without Limits will be held at MOCA Bangkok from October 26 to December 31 and will feature more than 150 certified originals by the artist.

Banksy’s work is synonymous with being anti authoritarian, disruptive, satirical and thought provoking in its nature.

Very little is known about Banksy himself, as he refuses to be interviewed and carefully maintains his anonymity.

So how could you get his permission?  Or just an attempt to promote the display.

Seems fair, how often does he get permission to spray his attempts at art on peoples walls?

That would be good. In the past the show has been criticised for having mostly repro art.

That said, I bought a Banksy T-Shirt in MBK a few years back: bloke selling it assured me it was an original ...

He's welcome to spray my walls. I'd love to become instantly rich.

Are you ok?

Banksys permission or not, I am really surprised this Exhibition is going ahead considering the Artists " Abrasive " nature against authorities.

I like Banksy's artwork, it's great.

However, when you spray your art onto public walls, you kind of lose any rights to stop people looking at it without your consent.

I'll go and take a look, assuming MOCA doesn't have a 10x for farang pricing policy.

I'll be going to see this, assuming it actually goes ahead. It would be great to see Banksy do some works related to Thailand ????

Robin Banks is cool!

It's a traveling exhibit. None of the showings (worldwide) of any of his art are authorized by him. Why would he. it's not his style. Just like he isn't going to ask for anyone's authorization to place one of his new pieces. The best thing that could happen is if he showed up in Thailand and placed a new piece  This is a none news story.
