A local Thai pizza maker known locally in Pattaya as “Joe Pizzaking” passed away peacefully at a hospital.

 

Joe is a street pizza vendor known for his pizza-making skills and charming personality. He has been running his pizza vendor, a local, small business that he is fond of, for a long time in Pattaya and has earned the nickname “Pizzaking” from his customers.

 

Aside from making pizzas, Joe was passionate about raising fighting chickens and sports. He lived a happy life and shared happiness to others through his pizzas. Joe passed away at a hospital amid his mourning families and relatives. His funeral will take place at Wat Phothi Samphan on October 12th.

Out of all the spectator sports in the world, cockfighting is one of the oldest ones that is still practiced today. For more than 6000 years, game-fowl were used to fight for sport, an expression for masculinity, or because of tradition. Many regions see this spectator sport as a cultural identity, and it’s quite lucrative as well. In Thailand, cockfighting is not considered animal cruelty at all and it’s an event that brings people together.

if he made pizzas then he was a pretty good guy ....  anyone who makes pizza or mexican food is ok in my book.

Bull fighting, bear baiting and dog fighting have long traditions, they are still barbaric and illegal in any advanced country. The side effect of cock fighting, and it's real attraction is the chronic gambling connected with it. This causes untold misery in a lot of Thai families with these idiots losing up to 100k a day. Not considering it cruel does not make it not so.

So the misery in Thai families is caused by the gambling, not the nature of the sport. The same misery could be caused by betting on boxing, buying lottery tickets or even speculating on the forex market.

You can legislate and control the sport. But the same can not be said for the stupidity, which will always find a way to express itself.

Without the gambling they would not do it, have even seen senior monks getting cash out of donation envelopes to bet on cock fighting.

Ah the 3, 5 or 7 day wake and party, alas a defeated chicken who has to be put down is just served as a feast.  I guess you have never been to a Bull Fight or even hunted game animals for sport.....peoples views differ, but alas I find sporting events a good time.  Many think boxing, MMA, and Muay Thai are cruel sports, yet they are attended to by the masses.

Well said, a craftsman indeed.  Such sad news.  He had a great personality and his pizzas were delicious.  I have enjoyed dozens.  That black-white photo captured him where I usually saw him and placed an order—near Country Road in Jomtien.  We called him last week to see if he would be out and about in Jomtien making pizzas that night, but he informed me that he was having stomach problems.  I will miss him.  He was quite the character.

Exploitation, incarceration and causing suffering of fellow earthlings for spectator pleasure and gambling, by supposedly a more advanced species, is the epitome of animal cruelty, regardless of how you and others choose to spin it.

 

Almost as bad as the dreadful and unimaginable suffering caused to (other) animals for taste pleasure.

Only made 20 pizzas a night at 200 baht a pizza. So he was only cooking for about 3 hours a night making 4k thb a night and after his costs probably 3k.  He was definitely making some dough......at least 60k a month.....
