Ceremonies were held at memorials and statues dedicated to the man who was not only royalty but a statesman first and a politician second. King Father Sihanouk is highly respected and revered for his sacrifices for the Kingdom, Prime Minister Hun Sen took to his Facebook page on Saturday to express his “sincere gratitude” to the late king who died aged 91 of natural causes in Beijing. Mr Hun Sen said he will never forget the sacrifices of the late King Father for “the nation and neither will Cambodian people of all walks of life”. “October 15, 10 years ago, was the saddest time for the whole Cambodian nation, because it was the time of the loss of one of the great kings, His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk,” Mr Hun Sen said.
