BANGKOK, Oct 27 (TNA) – Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, chief executive officer of JKN Global Group Public Company Limited, said her company reached an agreement to take over the business of Miss Universe Organization (MUO) from Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc which held a 100% stake in IMG Worldwide, LLC that had all Miss Universe copyrights.

 

She announced the takeover in a press conference which MUO chief executive officer Amy Emmerich and MUO president Paula Shugart attended via a video conference system.

 

Ms Jakkaphong said the business acquisition was a matter of pride for Thai people because Miss Universe had been organized for 70 years and everyone knew about the established beauty contest.

I hope this change will make the Miss Universe contest a bit more unbiased, and they allow in a wider range of contestants. Each year and every year that the contest has been held so far, the title has been won by someone from Earth!

All contestants in future must have 40 million invested in Thailand, buy a condo for 10X the going rate, own land in a Thai name, have work permits, be married to Thai nationals etc etc

"Authentic" is a controversial term, here. But "Anne," is a savvy media pro, and has built a considerable empire. It's been years since I've been out past Central Salaya off Phutthamonthon Sai 5, but JKN was supposed to be constructing quite a media complex there, including big studios, for their CNBC Thailand project. This company is more than a beauty contest owner. It distributes lots of SE Asian programming into Thailand and exports the same. 

I wonder if she intends to make Miss Universe more "inclusive" by mixing women and ladyboys? In my opinion that would probably spell the end of the competition pretty quickly. For one thing, the ladyboys will probably win every single year from now on. I've casually noted that the Miss Tiffany winners usually looks far prettier than their Miss Thailand counterparts.
