The Citizens Stop Apec group and its anti-government  leader declared their intention to remain in front of Bangkok City Hall until Friday despite warnings from local authorities not to stay overnight.

 

The group claimed the area was public space and many people were due to arrive from up country.

Separately, Anti-government protesters said they will march from Asoke to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre where the APEC summit is being held at midday today, The area has been declared off limits to protesters.

 

AMNESTY International Thailand marched to the UN building in Bangkok yesterday and submitted a letter asking the government to help stop the bloodshed in Myanmar. 


The letter urged the government to work with Asean members to address human rights and Accept asylum seekers, rather than deporting them.


1.4 million people have been displaced and nearly 13,000 are being detained in Myanmar.

 

In Chiang Rai …A group of about eight drug traffickers fled leaving 12 bags of methamphetamines, that's around 1.5 million pills, after soldiers approached, there was an exchange of  gunfire for about  5 minutes, all the smugglers managed to flee and there were no injuries.


The owner of a hotel in Surat Thani reported a French tourist had gone missing for the last week, the man in his 30s told hotel staff he was going for a walk but didn’t return, his personal belongings and ID were still in his room.

 

From January a new visa will be launched to allow visitors to receive medical treatment. The new multiple entry visas will be valid for one year and allow the holder and up to 3 family members to stay for 90 days.


Each Applicant will need 800,000 baht in the bank to cover expenses and must have medical insurance cover of 100, thousand dollars.
