BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand has delivered its second country presentation at the 171st General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris as part of its bid to host the Specialised Expo 2028.

During the assembly, Thailand reaffirmed its readiness in every respect to host the event, which would take place in Phuket province. The second country presentation centered on policy support, details on the Expo’s thematic topics, and the Expo site’s master plan and conceptual design.

According to a report, the presentation began with a message from Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who emphasized the significance of Thailand’s selection to host this global event.

The message added that the Specialised Expo 2028, which is in line with the Bio-Circular-Green or BCG Economic Model of the Royal Thai Government, would serve as an international platform to foster cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

The Thai delegates reassured the BIE member nations that the Specialised Expo 2028 would generate tangible benefits for the global community, particularly as a platform for policy-level cooperation and inspiration for the next generation.

Team Thailand was represented by Thailand’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijavat Isarabhakdi, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Yossapon Boonsom, from the team of architects involved in the Expo’s space design, and Annada Lakkhana, a 12-year-old schoolgirl and Phuket Young Ambassador who spoke for the younger generation.

The final vote of the 170 BIE member nations to determine the winning host location is scheduled for June 2023.
