Dog Poisoning

Featured Replies

Somewhat related to the now defunct thread "Dog Poisoning - ethics" I have a couple of questions regarding the methods. I think it was already established in the previous thread that dog lovers think it is not nice to poison evil stray dogs, even if they threaten the safety/life/health/well being of your children on their way to school.

However, if one were to choose the "immoral" path of disposing of said pests through poisoning to protect human lives, what is the most effective and painless method? A cocktail of sedatives and poison? Rat poison is surely not a very pleasant way since it causes internal bleeding leading to a slow and painful death. Would potassium salts be a better option?

Maybe the resident dog experts and/or vets can come with some tips, because whether you like it or not sometimes these things need to be dealt with.

Ahhhhh.......a realist.

Sick, lingling - just sick. To all of those who no doubt will answer this thread with their own little cocktails of suffering, I can just say, that you'd better hope that there's nothing to this karma idea & that what goes around doesn't come around...

How about taking the sensible advice of contacting the phuu yai baan?

Poisoning a dog is a cowardly thing to do, even in this case.

agreed.i find it bizarre that people would even consider it.i'd rather get bitten by the dog,or be forced to give it abit of a whack with something fairly solid.if i was that concerned about the dog hurting somebody i'd pay to have it dealt wth humanely.

i'm pretty sure ive seen a dog thats been poisoned, trembling, dribbling, eyes not focused.the dog looked in agony.

This is a very unpleasant post . To think to kill them is bad ,posting how to kill them is worse !

I think it is more unpleasant to read news reports about children murdered by stray dogs. Far to common and very preventable. Unfortunately some people here value a dogs life higher than a human life.

And your statistics/links to back up that bizarre post? Far too common for children to be murdered by stray dogs? Most dog attacks are from owned dogs & often in an environment thought to be safe. What, in your opinion, is "far too common"? Numbers?

Who values a dog's life more than a human life? Who has said they feel that way? Poisoning is a cruel & horrible death. If a dog is genuinely a risk to the community/people and there is no alternative but to kill it - how about humane euthanasia administered by a vet?

It took a number of 2year old children being mauled to death in the US by pit bulls before the states starting putting legislation into place to prevent this.

I just heard on Fox news that a guy in New York just sued the municipality because his Mastif got loose and was roaming for 5 hours before caught and taken to the animal shelter. The shelter wouldn't give it back unless he agreed to have it neutered...loose for 5 hours!

Anyway, there just isn't the infrastructure in Thailand to deal with this issue. Resorting to self help is very sad, unfortunate and regrettable. Unfortunately, in some cases, there may be no other way to proceed.

Forget Karma. If the dog is owned by a Thai and killed by a foreigner the locals will handle it. It is one thing for a Thai to kill a foreigner's dog and a completely different thing for a foreigner to kill a Thai's dog. It is always best to let the authorities handle dogs wandering freely if they are a menace. The dog catchers come through my soi whenever neighbors call them.

I'm closing this topic for a variety of reasons. Poor taste for one, verging on trolling and that there is a strong likely hood that the topic is discussing illegal activities. Plus, it is effectively extending a previous closed topic.
