A poll by the National Institute of Development Administration shows Thailand’s main opposition party with links to former premier Thaksin Shinawat has the highest chance of forming the next government in the general election.


The Pheu Thai Party has the confidence of 73 per cent of thirteen hundred people surveyed across the country.

 

Thailand's National police chief said he will take charge of the investigation into a Chinese crime syndicate that involved drugs and operated shady businesses in night spots.


The chief said former politician Mr Chuvit accused the police of dragging their feet over the investigation, adding that so far 9 suspects had been arrested.


Around 60 Police with dogs are searching for a drug suspect who escaped from a police station in Kanchanaburi and remains on the run after 3 days.


The suspect, still in handcuffs, escaped after being taken out of a cell and fled through a rear door. He had been due to appear in court that day. The search continues.
 

Greenpeace Thailand says plastic waste is being imported from several overseas countries including Europe, North America and Japan this is on top of around 2 million tonnes of plastic pollution generated domestically each year.


The report said Domestic waste is usually not separated and cannot easily be recycled, most usually ends up in landfills.


Thailand aims to stop plastic waste going into landfills by 2027.
 

Prime minister Prayut was on hand at Suvarnabhumi airport to welcome the 10 millionth international visitor to Thailand. 

 

The occasion was marked at all 7 international airports around the country.
