Thailand has called meeting of Asean member states to maintain, update and exchange views on the situation in Myanmar


It is understood several countries have agreed to participate in the meeting on 22nd December, while others stated they were too busy with year end activities. 

 

PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT leader Thanathorn Juang-roong-ruangkit claims he and people nationwide may rise up against a prime minister picked and endorsed by unelected senators.


His comments referred to the current prime minister and his deputy, who may receive support from senators despite a lack of support from MP’s nationwide.

 

3 people were killed and a family of 5 were trapped in their car  as it was swept away in Narathiwat, following monsoon rains and strong winds across the south.


Many roads were blocked and homes flooded in many parts of Nakorn Sri Thammarat, Songklah and Hat Yai.


Several ferry services were cancelled between the mainland and Kho Samui. Flooding also swamped much of northern Malaysia.

 

A professional jet ski racer from South Korea was killed during the Water Jet World Grand Prix off the coast of Jomtien on Saturday. 40 year old Sung Won Kim, fell off and hit the water at speed. 

 

A 22 year old man from Northern Ireland is reported to have drowned on Saturday evening while on holiday with his uncle in a national park just north of Pang Na . It’s believed his kayak overturned just a few meters from a jetty but he was unable to swim to safety, his body was found yesterday morning.

Malaysia: The search for the remaining nine victims of a landslide tragedy on Friday at an unlicensed camp site north of Kuala Lumpur resumed this morning  after heavy rain prevented the search for bodies yesterday.


Authorities said the it released the names of the seven children known to have died in the tragedy and also revealed that eight people had been taken to hospital Five of the eight have since been discharged.
