First on CNN: Classified documents found at Pence’s Indiana home

Washington CNN  —

A lawyer for former Vice President Mike Pence discovered about a dozen documents marked as classified at Pence’s Indiana home last week, and he has turned those classified records over to the FBI, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

The FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division have launched a review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence’s house in Indiana.

The classified documents were discovered at Pence’s new home in Carmel, Indiana, by a lawyer for Pence in the wake of the revelations about classified material discovered in President Joe Biden’s private office and residence, the sources said. The discovery comes after Pence has repeatedly said he did not have any classified documents in his possession.

Well done Pence! You rightly adopted the same faultless behaviour as Biden by turning over the documents to the NARA and the FBI, instead of hiding them and obstructing as Trump did.

So politicians do illegal things and lie a lot.

Moving on ????

These guys need better staff that’s sloppy just like the Biden case notice I said sloppy not criminal as in trumps case

Everyone's doing it but it's unfortunate that all this makes it harder for Garland to charge Trump even though it's obvious that he should charge Trump. It's complicated for the people to understand the differences. Americans like simple.

It seems that the entire Executive Branch needs to have a review of how it handles -- or should I say, mishandles -- classified documents.

Oops. That was rather careless of him.

I bet that if you have a look at all past Presidents and Vice Presidents...you'll find some documents they shouldn't have.

Classified records pose conundrum stretching back to Carter

It’s been a problem off and on for decades, from presidents to Cabinet members and staff across multiple administrations stretching as far back as Jimmy Carter. The issue has taken on greater significance since Trump willfully retained classified material at his Florida estate, prompting the unprecedented FBI seizure of thousands of pages of records last year.

Agree.  It's probably routine and not at all sinister.  I'm sure every last one cooperated with the government when discovered to ensure proper compliance and control.  The one BIG difference is with a certain D. Trump who refused to cooperate and obstructed to the point of the DOJ having to raid his home.  But as someone said earlier, some Americans can't (refuse) to see the glaring difference.

There is no evidence that Pence has done anything illegal.

Good to see Pence acting decisively to report this find.

Good to see USAG acting decisively to investigate the matter.

If criminality is found, then indict.

The criminal holding, withholding or concealment of classified documents should always be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If criminality is not found, make a clear unequivocal statement to that effect.

Well that's his presidential run tanked.

I think that ended when MAGA Insurrectionists erected a gallows outside the Capitol and went hunting for the VP with calls to hang him.

For some reason this thread seems to be Kryptonite to MAGA.

I noticed that with the George Santos thread as well. On the other hand the Greta Thunberg thread was catnip for the right. I'm shocked.

Well, they cannot defend him, because he behaved in the same way as Biden, so it would mean to indirectly defend Biden.

They also cannot attack him because he's a Republican, Trump did much worse than him, and they have been claiming it was only a political witch hunt.

Actually, it will completely destroy the basis of their accusation of double-standards. When both Biden and Pence won't be charged, unlike Trump,  they won't be able to claim double standard. It's actually a benediction for Garland! ????
