Indian rail link from Southeast Asia to Europe via Iran soon

New Delhi, July 1, IRNA

India-Rail-Link

Within the next few years, travelers from India will have the option of going to places like Singapore, Bangkok, Yangon, Tehran and even cities in Turkey by train, giving airlines a run for their money.

Any idea on price? Free ales also would be a plus

Why is this topic called "London by train"? :o

That'd be handy, as i've always wanted to bring mother over here, but she's unable to fly and a cruise is well...meh.

Anything is possible but how likely is this? B*gger all has been built of the Trans-Asian Railway since the project started in the '60s (see Wikipedia), the biggest problem being the changes of gauge from one country to another. Still, this article came from the "Islamic Republic News Agency", so it must be worth posting, eh? :D

I took the train from Peterborough (small city about 100 miles north of London) to Bangkok. Unfortunately I had to use 2 buses as well en route... an experience, but I don't think I'll be doing it again.
